I started a new project this week, a sci fi project where we create an environment behind a sci fi styled vault door. I originally intended to start this project as a level design one, building a very simple bashkit of modular peices and designing a level out of it. But now I'm actually in the project I'm probably only going to be able to make one or two rooms. Hopefully I can make them pretty good and finally make one of these projects I can be properly happy with. I've had a significant lack of confidence after how badly my other projects went and with how sick I am, and I hope this project works well to fix it.
First step is always mooodboarding so heres some of what I worked on. This picture to the top right is one of the biggest insperations I have. The vault door I have to make is bright red, and I've started working on a sci fi Hospital environment. I've been thinking of a fairly stark white and red location. As this is a semi-stylised project I want to do a stark stylised colour system like this.

I've been wanting to create this project as a Sci Fi hospital. One maybe on a small space ship or station. I originally was concepting a big modular environment, trying out different designs. As I'm thinking on a level design FMP I wanted to focus on my concept a bit more than usual, but speed is one of the things I'm best at with painting so I still got them out of the way quickly.

I really enjoyed this thumbnail stage and got some good feedback from this. This cemented my idea for my FMP being almost all concept as it was going rather well.

The room I wanted to focus on first was this waiting room area. It would be a good starting area that would tease the rest of the level. I didn't spend to long working on colours as I already was fairly sure I wanted to do the mostly white and red design.

I tried to quickly get onto the modelling phase. I've been slightly worried that I'm now behind on work but I dont think i'm actually that behind. I would like to have more assets done but I have the most important now unwrapped and ready to roll. I've had some stress with the modelling phase mostly over things like the collisions being difficult to do and some stupid little things going wrong. As I said earlier my confidence is some what shot and everything that goes wrong is making me stress out at the moment.

Hopefully I can get over it. Hopefully I can get this all done. I think I'm in a fairly good position. I want to spend slightly longer now modelling getting more assets out and cleaning up some I rushed. When it comes to texturing I plan on using substance painter, and hopefully I can really get a nice clean sci fi look and tie this all together.
